Photo by Ted Brown Contest winner HPV debate put on hold Debate as to whether the Halton Catholic District School Board should reconsider its ban on allowing public health nurses into its schools to administer the HPV vaccine will have to wait for another day. Burlington trustee John Mor- rison had intended to re-open discussion on the issue at last night¹s (Tuesday) board meeting but was told he had not brought forth his intention at the right time at the previous meeting. The procedural mix-up pro- mpted Morrison to bring up the issue at the appropriate time dur- ing the Oct. 15 meeting and now the HPV policy item will be on the agenda at the Nov. 5 meeting. Morrison is hoping to rescind the current policy banning pub- lic nurses from giving the hu- man papillomavirus (HPV) vac- cine on board property. The ban has been in effect since September 2008. HPV is a common virus that is usually spread during sexual activity through skin-to-skin contact with an infected person.
