Dale Turnbull, Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce Employee of the Year for 2007, died Sunday, Nov. 10, following a long bat- tle with brain cancer. He was 60. Turnbull was well-known by customers at Food Basics, as he worked the parking lot, returning shopping carts and helping customers load groceries into their cars. "He had to quit work (at Food Basics) last June," said his mother Edna Turnbull. "The cancer was progressing and he just couldn't work any more." "Even though he was in the hospital," she continued, "people were always asking 'How's Dale doing?' and I'd have to say 'He's comfortable.' It was so nice the way people were always asking about him. I think he was an inspiration to many people-- he was always so caring." Turnbull was nominated as the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce 2007 Em- ployee of the Year. He is survived by his mother Edna (pre- deceased by father James), sisters Pamela Eyre of London, Gloria Riddall of Mis- sissauga, Kimberly and brother Glenn of Simcoe. Friends will be received at J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. By TED BROWN Staff Writer Former Chamber of Commerce Employee of the Year Dale Turnbull died last week.
