VisitGeorgetown HondaTODAY! The recent theft of a bicycle a Cam- bridge man bought for his fiancé's son for Christmas has turned into an over- whelmingly positive experience. Bruce Laing, formerly of George- town, was letting off some steam com- plaining about the theft a couple of weeks ago on his Facebook page, and he couldn't believe what happened. His longtime friend Don Fendley of Georgetown, also a Facebook friend, read about the theft and started a col- lection amongst his friends to replace the bike. The donations poured in and enough money was raised to purchase a new bike for the boy at Canadian Tire in Georgetown. Laing picked up the bike last week and Canadian Tire generously donated a bicycle helmet. "I think the spirit of Christmas is alive and well," said Laing. "You find out there are a lot of very good people in this world. "This negative experience, now it's 90 per cent positive," said Laing, who is thankful to Fendley and all the oth- ers who chipped in to help replace the bike. He added he's even been able to for- give the person who stole the bike.
