"Gina's water broke at 4 a.m., and we called the hospital to see what we should do," said Brett. "They told us to come right in. I was surprised how quickly we got here-- we were at the hospital in 20 minutes." With her water breaking, both parents expected little Hailey to be born soon af- ter that, but she held out until the after- noon. Brett said he was pleased to be able to be present to see his daughter born. The former Georgetown residents, who moved to Hillsburgh six months ago, had nothing but praise for the staff at Georgetown Hospital. "They (the nurses) were just great," said Gina. "Dr. (Selvaratnam) Gunarat- nam was great-- we were so pleased with everyone here, and how they looked after us." Daugh- ter Charlotte Naylor of Georgetown and grandson Paul Lynds of Brampton were among the group who wished her well. Kay grew up in West Branch, Nova Scotia, as she and her husband farmed near Nutby, N.S., before mov- ing to Ontario in 1956. They raised fi ve children in the London area. She moved to Halton Hills in 1992, and to Extendicare in 2010. Kay has 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
