Market Place makeover going well Georgetown Market Place's makeover is well underway and shoppers will have al- ready noticed several changes. Construction began last summer and will continue until 2014 said Herminia Henderson, property manager of the mall. "It all started with Walmart re-locating to the old Zellers location, once that was announced the Georgetown Market Place and its team got busy re-locating tenants throughout the mall to accommodate the new Walmart and to take advantage of adding 25 to 30 stores to the mall," said Henderson. Last summer Georgetown Market Place underwent a major construction project to relocate the food court to the southwest entrance, which was widened by about 30 feet. "Five food court tenants re-located with new looks, new tile, ceiling and lights. Comfortable seating was added to this area offering our customers a brand new mod- ern look. We still have room for a 1,900 sq. ft. restaurant with an outdoor patio and two more food court tenants. We are busy trying to complete the fi nal touches in the food court," said Henderson. At the east end of the mall, Supreme Hairstyling has been relocated to the northeast entrance with both indoor and outdoor access. Coles Books, has been re- freshed, moved and renamed Indigospirit, which is now located next to Walmart. The Source is now next to Walking on a Cloud in the west end of the mall. The Indepen- dent & Free Press will be relocating as well- outside the former Walmart entrance fac- ing Mountainview Rd. The tenants were relocated to accommodate a bigger (10,000 sq. ft.) Ardene and to make room for a new corridor connecting the old Walmart space to the existing mall. Since August, the mall added Phar- masave, Buck or Two (exterior pad next to Bank Of Nova Scotia) Tip Top Tailors, and expanded The Beer Store. Henderson said coming soon to the mall are Sport Chek, Atmosphere, The Regional Municipality of Halton and a new restau- rant, Famous Wok, and many more stores to be announced. Walmart opened in its new location April 5. Construction is continuing in the store until June when a further expansion will be revealed. Interior access to Walmart will open the fi rst week of May. "We are excited that Walmart will add groceries to the current selection of gen- eral merchandise, giving our Walmart the added distinction of super store," said Henderson.
