BEACHCOMBER HOT TUB SPECIALBEACHCOMBER HOT TUB SPECIAL Georgetown Choral Society to perform Brahms on May 4 Georgetown Choral Society to perform Brahms' Requiem. Brahms' lullaby melody (also known as "The Craddle Song") is one of the most famous and rec- ognizable in the world, used by countless parents to sing their ba- bies to sleep. But we are fortunate that this towering classical com- poser also created gorgeous large scale choral music such as his fa- mous Requiem. This diffi cult soul-stirring mas- terpiece, written between 1865 and 1868 and wrought from the anguish of his mother's death and the loss of his mentor Robert Schumann, was an innovative and progressive work. It was crafted with moments of exquisite ten- derness and refl ection, and com- municates profound messages of peace, hope, and consolation. The Georgetown Choral Soci- ety is thrilled to perform Brahms' moving Requiem (in English) on Saturday, May 4 at 8 p.m., at the Georgetown Christian Reformed Church at 11611 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown. For a taste of what you will ex- perience, listen to a You Tube re- cording of the 4th movement on the choir's website: http://www. georgetownchoral.ca/index.html .
