He's op- timistic, he's got a fabulous joie de vivre." He said Thompson's diagnosis was made through imaging (CT scans, etc.) and he didn't actually have a tissue sam- ple done which would have provided a defi nitive diagnosis, but his doctors are "as certain as we could be this is a can- cer." It was also determined it was too ad- vanced to operate on and in fact, had al- ready spread. "Nobody can predict life expectan- cy," the doctor said, but he added after Thompson's diagnosis "certainly the consensus would have been more in the range of weeks to months for sure." He added Thompson's outcome following the diagnosis he received isn't something he sees very often. The doctor said there are a lot of fac- tors that can impact a person' progno- sis-- "attitude appears to be one." He said Thompson is enjoying every minute and he doesn't feel sorry for him- self. Thompson said he is just taking life day by day. "If I get up in the morning, and I can go outside...Whoa, yeah," he said.
