These individuals assist- ed with the planning and delivery of the Sonar2Voice event held at CTK this past winter. Sonar2 Voice is a student-driven marine biodiversity concert that takes the students all year to plan. Over the three years the school as organized this event, there has been an average of 700 students in attendance. They have focused on Seals, Dolphins and sharks and have attracted great education speakers such as Rob Stewart. Without the dedication and hard work of these youth, this event wouldn't be as successful as it is and continues to grow. We would like to congratulate the Sonar 2 Voice Student Team with a Mayor's Youth Action Committee Youth Recognition Awards. Meghan De Chastelain The Maggie Connolly Youth Award The Maggie Connolly Youth recognition award is in memory of Maggie Connolly who was an indi- vidual who made outstanding con- tributions to youth development. Meghan has proven to be dedi- cated and selfless in her volun- teerism. She attends Georgetown District High School, and has been an exceptional student when it comes to volunteering and being involved in her community and school. Meghan has dedicated time to volunteer at a summer camp and teach piano lessons for a choir and a child with an illness. In addi- tion, she has continued her passion for volunteering and leadership through her involvement in numer- ous fundraisers for local and re- gional initiatives. Meghan has also been highly involved in her athletic career as a captain of her school's swim team and she is currently the co-president for the IB Stu- dent league with a school average of 93%. Through her dedication, positive attitude, enthusiasm, and ability to be a positive role model to others, it is evident that this young person is well deserving of this award. MYAC Youth Awards MYAC Art Competition winners The MYAC Art Competition is an opportunity for youth to showcase their artistic talents. This year there were over 70 art submissions from students. There were two categories for which the art work was judged. The junior category included submissions completed by individuals in Grades 6-9 and the senior category were Grade 10-12 students.
