P WELL SUSAN S. POWELL BARRISTER & SOLICITOR FAMILY LAW 350 RUTHERFORD RD. S. (Plaza 2, Suite 320) on the Corner of Steeles & Rutherford 905-455-6677 Q: My husband and I are separated and he is refusing to pay child support because I have stopped allowing him to have access to our two children. A: Your husband can not stop paying child support due to your not allowing him to have access. He has an obligation to pay child support despite not having access. You have not stated why you are denying access to your husband. Your husband has a right to see the children and a right to information about them. If the children are not safe with your husband, you could consider that someone supervise him while he has the children in his care. If there are other reasons why you won't let him see the children then you might consider agreeing upon various terms for his access. For instance, if he often doesn't show up for the access visit, then agree he has to confirm the visit 24 hours in advance and/or 1 hour in advance and if he fails to do so then there would be no visit. You and your husband should have a Separation Agreement which will set out the terms for access and child support and other issues. If you are unable to agree on terms there are other options such as mediation, collaborative law or court where the Judge will decide for you. Court is an expensive process. Set up a consultation with a lawyer to learn your rights and obligations. ENTERTAINMENT (This is the first in a series of articlces pro- moting the Big Daddy Festival which runs June 14-16.) When you meet Doug Lounsbury you quickly know why his kids call him "Father of the Universe"-- he is busy, busy, busy and happy being that way. Lounsbury, a local insurance broker, who is married to Stephanie and is father to Grace, 11, Wyatt, 8 and Ava, 4, has a lot on the go (rep sport chauffeur, team coach, soccer start-up event-goer, gardener, grocery buyer, and Lob- sterfest volunteer during one re- cent weekend) but he seems to be managing it all with an abundance of energy, good humour and one key ingredient-- involvement. On the subject of Dad-day plans the Lounsbury children won't give much away but Wyatt will tell you that a sleep-in and breakfast may be part of the weekend as well as a bike ride to the Big DADDY Festival in Downtown Georgetown on Saturday as part of the Bike It to the Market activity in time for free pancakes. The whole family is planning to bounce on some bouncy castles, crawl up to blow the horn and get their picture taken at the Mighty Machine exhibit, and take in all of the performers and activities on Main Street. Grace is looking forward to being coached on how to life-draw her dad at the Cultural Centre as well as getting a henna tattoo with her mom. To round out Saturday the Lounsburys will head to the Williams Mill Visual Arts Centre in Glen Williams to try their hand at the soapstone carving and other do- it-yourself activities. Lounsbury is also looking forward to meeting Canadian boxing legend George Chuvalo in the Chill Zone and hanging out with him while they listen to some local bands! Sunday Lounsbury is volunteering with B2C for a few hours with the Classics Against Cancer Car Show in Cedarvale Park. Some other surprises are planned which we can't give away here (Ava stresses there may be lots of hugs and kisses involved) but you can be sure that whatever they are doing the Lounsbury family will be busy, together and having lots of fun! Georgetown Little Theatre Youth Company (GLT-YC) is officially celebrating its 10th an- niversary of bringing youth productions to the community with a 10th Reunion Party. All 259 members that have signed on since the beginning-- September 2003-- are cordially invited to attend this "homecoming" on Satur- day, June 8, 2-5 p.m. at the Georgetown Little Theatre Studio, 33 Stewarttown Rd. Come on out and hook up with other mem- bers, past and present, some of whom have been with GLT-YC from 10-18 years of age. Take a look at the rogues gallery depicting the plays that have been produced, with cast pictures and candid shots of the cast and crew having fun at rehearsals, or at those fabulous pizza parties. Sign your name on the picture frame(s) that you have been a part of. A potluck brunch with BBQ will be the fare of the day. So bring your favourite dish for all to enjoy. GLT-YC's Sue who has departed to New- foundland promises to be on hand. For those members intending to come, please contact the Studio, 905-877-3422 or respond on Facebook to Dave Borgal. Tickets, available at www.halton- hills.ca/theatre or 905-877-3700. Pric- es are $15 for the afternoon show and $20 for the evening show. The afternoon show which starts at 2 p.m. is called The Battle of Magi- cians. It features magician/illusionists Edward Stone who received three yes- es from Canada's Got Talent and com- edy magician/illusionist Ray Anderson who has been featured on Discovery channel, City TV, Canada AM. Featuring large illusions, comedy, a giant six-foot bunny and even a mind reading goose (www.harrythegoose. com), this is not the typical magic show, but rather Stone tries to keep Anderson under wraps who more of- ten than not has things going through his head that, well to be honest, is just not normal. This is a show that young and old alike will fall in love with. The evening show-- for audiences ages 16 and up, starts at 7 p.m. It is called HypnoMagic Show and features the mentalist abilities of Stone and comedy hypnosis of Anderson. This show has the audience mem- bers being the stars. Bring a friend and find out where the power of the mind will take them.
