Over 20 years ago, HIEC and its partners identified a need in the region to provide career infor- mation and resources to senior el- ementary students. With the help of Attridge Transportation, the Halton Catholic District School Board, the Halton District School Board and Halton's Rotary Clubs, the resulting Grade 8 Career Awareness Program has brought over 100,000 students to HIEC's on-site Career Centre to take part in a half-day career exploration program. This year's breakfast- with the theme Leadership Through Inspiration- will welcome Kyle MacDonald, renowned for his off- beat, inspirational ideas and best known for trading one red paper- clip for a house. MacDonald's year-long adven- ture in bartering includes trading for a door-knob, a music recording contract, an afternoon with Alice Cooper, a movie role, and finally, a house. Those in attendance will be inspired to "start small, think big and have fun" as MacDonald demonstrates how to apply his red paperclip idea to everyday life.
