The submission deadline is Monday, June 17 and can be made through the Town's website www. haltonhills.ca • • • June is Seniors Month in On- tario. This is a time for seniors to celebrate their lives and the many ways they continue to make our province and community a better place to live. This year's theme is 'The Art of Living' to cel- ebrate how seniors have created their own unique approach to living. Celebrating Seniors' Month has become our collective way of giving something back to older adults in our commu- nity and demonstrate how our municipality is working hard to keep Halton Hills as one of the best places to live and grow older. Seniors are encour- aged to attend events at either one of the Halton Hills Senior Centre locations or at either branch of the Halton Hills Libraries. Activities in Georgetown are planned for June 13 and 14 and in Acton on June 25 and 26. • • • Congratulations to: • Nuoptiks on its grand opening in Georgetown • The Living Hope Centre at Georgetown Alliance Church on its grand opening • • • Keeping it real! After leaving a trail of destruction and death in its wake, it came inland, and pounded its way through upper New York State, before crossing Lake Ontario with 100 m.p.h. winds and torrential rain. Local residents, especially those in Norval, recall the destruction vividly, as the storm eventually destroyed the village's old grist mill (above). Hurricane Hazel paid a visit 'I'm looking at anything at the moment' --Job seeker Kathyrn Chandler see story pg. 1 On June 2, Emslie Street had a surprise block party to cel- ebrate the 85th birthday of Helen Myltschenko, their old- est resident and favourite dog walker. More than 50 family, friends and neighbours, and their dogs, gathered despite the threat of rain. Myltschen- ko thanks everyone who at- tended. Got a photo you want to share?
