Printing on Mill Street (in the white Legion Building) Our community lost a tremendous individual with the passing of Ron McKnight, a member of The Halton Hills Accessibility Committee. Ron passed away on Sunday, June 9. All of us at HHAAC (Halton Hills Accessibili- ty Advisory Committeee) are saddened and extend our condolences to Ron's family and friends. I only knew Ron since I joined HHAAC in 2010. I had the privilege of attending a memorial service for Ron at the Acton Royal Canadian Legion, the only facility that could accommodate all the people Ron's life touched in so many significant ways. During this ser- vice I began to understand the measure of this man. If the measure of a per- son's commitment to his fellows and his community can be measured in a cup, then Ron's cup runneth over. And over! Ron was born with Cerebral Palsy, an umbrella term used to describe a variety of congenital, non-progres- sive, physical disabilities resulting from damage to parts of the brain at birth or shortly thereafter. It results in a lack of motor control over physical movement. CP is not a disease. Symp- toms can range from mild to severe. Ron used crutches and lately became wheelchair bound. Ron did not let CP slow him down. Not a chance! Ron worked for the Town of Acton and Halton Hills for 35 years. As a vol- unteer, Ron did not know the mean- ing of the word "No". When asked, he was always there to help in any way he could. The list of Ron's accomplish- ments and accolades are long and deserved. Unable to participate on the field, Ron's involvement in sports in our community is legendary. Ron was a most humble man, indomitable in spirit with a huge sense of humor. Our community is much poorer with the loss of this special man. We will all miss you Ron. Go Habs Go!
