Photo by Eamonn Maher Another year, another sell- out crowd for the seventh- annual charity exhibition hockey game between the To- ronto Maple Leafs' alumni and members of the Halton Hills Fire Department in George- town Sunday afternoon. More than a thousand spec- tators were in attendance at the Alcott Arena to see a cast of retired Leafs including 50- goal scorers Gary Leeman and Rick Vaive, the irrepressible Tiger Williams and a George- town resident, Matt Martin. Acton's Shawna Dinwoody, a cancer survivor, took a turn in goal for the Leafs' alumni again this year. The event raised approxi- mately $10,000 for Cancer As- sistance Services Halton Hills and since its founding in 2007, close to $80,000 has been gen- erated for local charities. Leafs' Alumni, HHFD raise 10Gs for CAShh Acton hosts Skates Alive Members of the Georgetown Skating Club fared well at the recent Skates Alive competi- tion hosted by the Acton Skating Club, involv- ing teams from the Midway West Area. Individual gold medals were earned by Leah- Sophie O'Meara (Pre-Preliminary Solo Dance), Caitie Mollenhauer (Adult Gold Free Skating), Antoinette Sprongl (CanSkate Individual Ele- ments - Orange) and the duo of Alana Carras and Miracle Crawford won the CanSkate Team Elements - Rainbows category.
