Fernbrook Springs Bottled Water Company in the Halton Hills Premier Gateway Business Park has been purchased by Ice River Springs Water Co. of Shel- burne. In operation since 2005, Fern- brook has a fully integrated manufacturing facility located on Brigden Gate where it packages spring water into 500ml, 4L and 15L bottles. This plant will be Ice River Springs' tenth in North America, providing increased capacity to support both private label and branded bottled water customers. In a news release issued Thurs- day the company stated that to continue with its robust growth it will deploy business practices that include efficient manufactur- ing, plastic recycling, energy sav- ings, environmental stewardship and exemplary customer service. "We will work closely with Fernbrook's trade partners and employees to ensure a smooth transition and continue to devel- op meaningful relationships with all customers, employees and suppliers," said Ice River Springs Executive VP, Sandy Gott. The purchase aligns with Ice River Springs' corporate vision, "to be the global leader in envi- ronmentally sustainable hydra- tion products." The company is a leader in the recycling of plastic, which will be used to produce Fernbrook products, reducing their carbon footprint. It was stated in the release it is the only beverage company in North America to self-manu- facture resin in a closed loop re- cycling system. This pioneering operation takes in bottles from municipal recycling programs, sorts, purifies and then produces certified food-grade plastic ready for reuse in 100% recycled water bottles. "There's enough plastic in the world today, we just need to find ways to reuse it," explained Jamie Gott, CEO of Ice River Springs, "and this acquisition will further our mission to devel- op products and processes that are better for people and better for the planet."
