Photo by Brendan Cleary Big road win for Raiders For the first time in four tries this season, the Georgetown Raiders were able to win a game in Buffalo and it came at a crucial point in their second- round playoff series with the Jr. Sabres on Tuesday evening. The third-place Raiders downed the second-seeded Jr. Sabres 4-2 to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-7 Ontario Ju- nior Hockey League South/West Con- ference semifinal matchup. Game four of the series was played last night at the Alcott Arena with an 8 p.m. puck drop. No score was avail- able before press time. Georgetown scored first for the third straight start as captain Steve Hladin found the mark before the home side evened the score with three minutes left in the middle stanza. But the Raiders got goals from Ryan Smith and Steven Mueller in the final two minutes of the period to take control and then Liam Board provided an in- surance marker in the third. Rookie netminder Michael McNiv- en made 30 saves for the win, while the Raiders had just 17 shots on Buf- falo goalie Joseph Pianta. Game five of the series will be played Saturday night in Buffalo. If a sixth game is required, it would be played Sunday at the Alcott Arena at 7:30 p.m. In the other OJHL South/West Con- ference semifinal series, the North York Rangers defeated the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots 4-3 in overtime but still trail the series 3-1.
