On Saturday June 21, at 7:30 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, the Georgetown Bach Chorale will pres- ent a benefit concert to aid in the re- building of the Ukrainian Church of St. Elias the Prophet. On April 5, fire ravaged this unique spiritual mon- ument, taking with it glo- rious icons imported from the Ukraine and breath- taking hand-painted art work which adorned the dome and walls of this sa- cred space. The Georgetown Bach Chorale sang many times at St. Elias, and the choir considered it to be one of the most exciting yet inti- mate venues in which they have performed. The members of the choir, its Board of Directors, Artistic Director Ron Greidanus and valued patrons, are committed to seeing the structure rebuilt and the spiritual fam- ily of St. Elias restored to our commu- nity. We invite you to join us to help make it happen. All proceeds from this performance will go directly to the re- building fund of this beautiful church. The program will largely step out of the traditional GBC rep- ertoire, and will instead feature more main- stream works, (even Si- mon and Garfunkel!) as well as a few classical favourites. In addition to choral music, instru- mentalists Roxolana and Karl Towes, mem- bers of St. Elias Church, will be highlighted in works for cello, violin and piano. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or in advance at Foodstuffs or Pat's Prime Cuts and Deli in Georgetown, and at the Holland Shop in Acton.
