Here's a rundown of five things to do this long weekend across the region. • The Milton Farmers' Market has been bringing goods and hospitality to downtown Milton since 1972. During the May long weekend, the farmers' mar- ket will be open on Main Street on May 19 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. • Firework shows will be put on every night during the Victoria Day long week- end in Milton. Starting on May 19 at 12 p.m. and end- ing on May 21 at 11 p.m., the Kaboom Fest at the Milton Fairgrounds will be a fun- filled weekend with fire- works, midway rides, food trucks, vendors and enter- tainment. The Oakville woman awoke Sunday, May 6, to find a raccoon snoozing on her Wilson Street second- floor terrace - in a town- house above three storeys of office space - basking in the sun on what's no doubt been one of his more com- fortable resting places. "I just brought up my cushions for couch yester- day," Preksta said. "He was so comfortable, I did not have the heart to awake him. So we put off putting up our gazebo cover and planting flowers." The visiting critter camped out on the terrace for much of the day, until late-afternoon rains sent him searching for new digs. Wrote Preksta in an email: "No idea how he climbed up or how he left. Was quite a surprise. May need to burn the cushions, LOL."
