It IS possible. Spend some time under the eve- ning sun learning how to improve your land with Credit Valley Conservation (CVC). CVC's Countryside Stewardship program, which connects rural land- owners with environmental resources, hosts its first ever Twilight Tour series. The tours demonstrate environmental stewardship projects that can be done on rural properties. "The Twilight Tour series engages land- owners in a unique way," said Mike Pud- dister, Director of Restoration and Stew- ardship for CVC. "It al- lows them to connect with CVC and other landowners, build- ing community-based environmental stewardship initiatives." The series runs over the course of the summer. All tours take place in the rural part of the Credit River water- shed. Twilight Tour #2 This tour takes place on a private property in Hillsburgh, showcasing stream restoration and tree planting projects. Attendees learn about assis- tance available for these types of proj- ects offered by CVC. Attendees learn about the importance of protecting water courses. The session takes place Tuesday, July 22 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Twilight Tour #3 This tour takes place at the Whole Village eco-village in Caledon. Attend- ees will visit the pollinator gardens located on-site and will learn how to at- tract, observe and identify beneficial insects that native plants need to sur- vive. The session will be guided by Heath- er Holm, author of Pollinators of Native Plants. This tour takes place Wednesday, August 13 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each event will run rain or shine. Participants should dress for the weather. Space is limited with prefer- ence given to landowners living within the Credit River watershed. Others are welcome as space allows. CVC offers land improvement workshops Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee The Town of Caledon is currently seeking interested applicants for appointment to the Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee for the 2014-2018 Term of Council. The purpose of this Committee is to review and respond to compliance audit applications from eligible electors who believe, on reasonable grounds, that a candidate has contravened the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (MEA) relating to election campaign finances. The Committee will be composed of three members, with membership drawn from the following groups: • Accounting and audit - accountants or auditors, preferablywith experience in preparing or auditing the financial statements of municipal candidates; • Academic - college or university professorswith expertise in political science or local government administration; • Legal; and • Other individualswith knowledge of the campaign financing provisions of theMEA. The following individuals will be excluded from membership to the Committee: • Employees or officers of the Townof Caledon or theRegion of Peel; • Members of Townof CaledonCouncil; • Any personswhoare candidates in the election forwhich the committee is established or family members or employees of same or any person connected to a candidate through an employment, contractual, business or partnership relationship; • Any personwho is or intends to volunteer or seek employment to assist any candidate in the election for which the committee is established; • Employees of theDufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and/or thePeel District School Boardwill not be considered for appointment to their respective Compliance Audit Committees. Applicantsmust have the flexibility to attend daytime and/or eveningmeetings,must be at least 18 years of age, a resident of the Town of Caledon, and a Canadian Citizen. With consent of the applicants, applications received by the Town will also be forwarded to theDufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board and/or thePeel District School Board for consideration for appointment to their respective compliance Audit Committees. Committee members will receive $100.00 per diem for attendance at each meeting.
