These will be short one-acts sure to tickle your funny bones. Opening with David Mamet's classic two-hander, The Duck Variations, about two cantan- kerous lonely old friends who like to feed ducks. Then a brief entre acte by Canada's own Stephen Leacock. The Raft: An Interlude pokes fun at dating-- Edwardian-style. Set entirely on a small raft, this farce still rings true today. The evening closes with two short comedies by Michele Palmero: Labour Pains and New York Minute. One is about birth, and the other is about death. Both aim for the humour found in honest, real-life situations. Well…maybe not everyone's best friend comes back as a ghost… Sept. 11-13 (8 p.m.) the shows will be in Georgetown at GLT Studios, 33 Stewarttown Rd. Sept. 18-20 (8 p.m.) the shows will be staged at Acton Town Hall, 19 Willow St. N. Tickets are $10 per person; to reserve your seat, call 905- 877-3422. Leave a message and someone will return your call. The Studio Shows are always determined by those who want to do them. From the first round of Studio Shows, we've had comedies, dramas, improvisa- tion, absurdism, first-time stag- ings, classics and everything in between. Whether playing "outside the box" or producing a project close to their hearts, the Studio Shows are always a treat. This year, we're toeing the party line and launching the season with both classic and new comedies. Theatre is magic. But the real magic is the friendships made working on the shows. The actors lit on a set that the audience sees, that's only the tip of the iceberg of the work that goes into staging theatre. With- out the volunteers who stepped forward to assemble sets, find props, paint, sew costumes, make flyers, drive couches around, hang lights, and so much more… well, it's a team effort. Should you want to be part of this fun team right in the heart of your community, or buy tick- ets to see the shows, or you know or are a youth… I bet we have a place for you in our com- munity. Come visit us online at www.georgetownlittletheatre.ca or find GLT on Facebook.
