COMMENT Airport noise is ruining our town: reader Has anyone else noticed that we are now on the GTAA's Departure and Arrival routes? The noise overhead is deafening. Planes leaving or arriving less than a minute apart, constantly, all day. A quick look at the GTAA's website and their WebTrak feature reveals that Georgetown is now the main fly-over point for a vast number of departing and arriving flights, often at altitudes of 5,000 feet and less. Don't let our beautiful town be ruined by the GTAA. Contact the GTAA noise com- plaint office (you must type it in the search engine, it is not easily ac- cessed), email Mayor Rick Bonnette and MP Michael Chong. This must stop. HANGING AROUND From our readers 'Quote unquote' More Letters to the editor Karma, CRA are coming This letter is (on behalf of) my mother, whom had her GST cheque cashed by someone other than her, without her knowledge. First of all, the cheque wasn't stolen from her mailbox, but it was obviously delivered by snail mail to the wrong address. She had been waiting for the cheque for a week or so, which never came, so she ended up call- ing the Canada Revenue Service to find out if it was sent out. To her surprise it was sent out and it was also cashed. Somebody out there is $102.25 richer. The Canada Revenue Service is investigating and soon will re- ceive the endorsed cheque back and will find out where and whom cashed the cheque. Sleep well for a couple more days before you get found out. The mature way to have han- dled getting the wrong mail would have been to write on the envelope "return to sender." But in your case, that little mistake may have cost you more then you bargained for. Sleep well my friend. Karma will come calling soon. Jim Boyd Please, don't turn around in traffic Well, they are still doing it. These drivers who think that an intersection with lights control- ling eight or 12 lanes of traffic, with delayed signals, pedestrian timed crossing, safety islands, advanced greens and no left turn signs, plus traffic speeds of 70/ km-plus, is a good place to make a u-turn. I don't even know why it's legal when you can put so many people in jeopardy just so you can turn around.
