Avery Buckley, 15, Oak-Avery Buckley, 15, Oak-A ville, Artistic Dance Scene (ADS) "This is such an exciting opportunity for me," she said, noting she's been danc- ing since was four years old. "To be able to meet other dancers from around the world, and share our pas- sion for dance will be an ex- perience I will never for- get." At age 11, Buckley moved into residence, and trained and went to school at The National Ballet of Canada. "To be up on a stage ex- pressing yourself in front of people can be scary at times. However with all the train- ing, when the music starts everything else falls away and I get lost in the moment. I believe this will help me present myself confidently in the future in all areas of life, especially business." Sydney Horton, 15, Oak- ville, Studio X "I am so excited to train- with so many talented dancers and teachers from across Canada and then have the opportunity to compete with them on an in- ternational stage. I have never competed outside of Ontario. I am excited to be able to travel and be part of an international competi- tion." "I have always loved to dance but only started to compete over the last four years. Now I cannot get enough of it." "Being on stage made be nervous at first, but now I get really excited and ener- gized." Isabella Langlois, Oak- ville, ADS "I am super excited to meet so many new people from all around the worldfrom all around the worldf and make lots of friends," said Isabella, who's been dancing since she was four years old. "I love that when I'm dancing I can have loads of fun while still working hard to achieve my goals." Audrey Dessureault, 17, Oakville, Live to Dance Academy "This opportunity is so exciting because not only do I get to do what I love: Danc- ing, but I am doing it mak- ing new friends, learning from such amazing chore-from such amazing chore-f ographers and travelling," said Audrey, who only start- ed competing in 2014. "Danc- ing is expressing myself ! Being on stage is such an in- credible feeling, there is much adrenalin in that two to three minutes!" Nadia Boushy, 14, Grade 9 student at Abbey Park High School, Oakville "Dancing and re- presenting Canada on a world stage is a dream come true," said Nadia. "It is an honour to be asked to do so and exciting for sure. You're competing for your country and I am proud to do so." Nadia said her parents tell her that she was always bopping to music from a very young age, so at the age of three they put her into ballet classes and from there she continued. "I like to be able to ex- press oneself through mu- sic and choreography. Se- condly it's a team sport, even when you are dancing a solo, you are representing your choreographer and your dance studio." "Finally, we dance so much that our studios are our second home and our fellow dancers are our fami-fellow dancers are our fami-f ly." Anysa Meze, 17, Oak- ville, ADS "This opportunity is probably one of the most ex- citing things I've been able to be apart of I cannot wait to get on the stage and show the other countries what we have been working on. Any- sa has only been dancing for three years; prior to dance she was a high level gym- nast." "When in gymnastics, I always loved to learn chore- ography for my floor routi- nes. So when I retired from gymnastics, the choice to move to dance was a simple and easy one." "I love that you can take any piece and style it to make it your own. Dance has brought me into an amazing family of teachers and fellow dancers that are by far some of the most im- portant people in my life. "Being on stage has such a thrill to it. Prior to walk- ing on you feel all sorts of emotions (nerves, excite- ment, a little bit of fear) but once you start to dance, ev- erything goes away and you leave all you have on the stage, its an amazing feel- ing. " Julia Meze, 13, Oakville, ADS "I am very honoured and excited to represent Cana- da," said Julia, who started ballet at the age of four. "These opportunities do no come often, so I plan on making the most out of this." "When I step on the stage to dance it allows me to be creative portray to what the song is attempting to say, and perform what the song is attempting to express- . My favourite part of dance is how I learn to move my body in cool ways. Dance is also an outlet to help me re- duce the stresses of every- day life." Darla Gall, 14, Oakville, ADS "I am thrilled to be on the Canadian team with so many talented dancers. I have only competed in Can- ada in the past so I cannot wait to compete with danc- ers from around the world." "Dancing is my passion, my happy place," said Da- ria, who's been dancing all her life.
