Max Kerman (vocals) and Tim Oxford (drums/ percussion) from the alter- native rock band came to MDHS to film a concert band version of People's Champ by the Arkells with the MDHS Senior Concert Band. The two came for one hour and Oxford played with the concert band, and Carson-Foster conducted. Kerman also presented Carson-Foster with a Peo- ple's Champ Award and medal for all his work edu- cating music students and using cool/contemporary songs at the same time.
