It's been 11 years since Garrett Holmes walked past an empty hospital room. It's a sight that sticks with him to this day. Holmes was seven when he was admitted to the Hos- pital for Sick Children in To- ronto after suffering sei- zures that left him non-re- sponsive for more than four hours. During his hospital stay, he would often go for walks and got to know some of the patients in the neighbouring rooms. One day, he noticed one of the rooms were empty and later found out the young boy in the room had died. "I said if I get to leave, I wanted to do something to help kids like that," Holmes said.
