"There was no television, no cellphones, and it was basically shutting down from our busy, chaotic lives," she said. "To get through this race and to be able to shut down, you learn a lot about yourself and your team- mate." "You are literally with that person 24/7 and it's nice to get to know someone on that level. We are closer now than ever." She encouraged people to watch the show because the teams are "phenomenal." "It was an honour to be con- sidered a hero beside some of Canada's best - some in the Armed Forces, police officers and the Navy," she said. "It's nice to be considered a hero." Up for grabs is $250,000, a once-in-a-lifetime trip for two around the world and a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse Redline for each.
