The former Oakville Liberal MPP sat down with the Oakville Beaver July 30 to discuss the recent provincial election, his time as MPP, PC Leader Doug Ford and what comes next. Flynn, who served as Oakville's MPP from 2003 to 2018, was defeated by Progressive Conservative candidate Stephen Craw- ford by 4,510 votes in theford by 4,510 votes in thef June 7 provincial election. That election also saw the resignation of Wynne as Ontario Liberal party leader and the rise of a PC majority government. These results didn't come as a huge surprise, said Flynn. "I knew we were in a very tough fight. In fact, we did far better than I thought we would, and that really is a credit to my campaign team," he said. "I was sensing there was a mood for change out there ... so when I got the phone call I was over it in 10 seconds. You know, go- ing into an election, only two things can happen: you are going to win or you are going to lose.
