Halton Region continues to make investments to ensure our community can handle more frequent and severe wet weather. This includes investing $2.1 billion in our water and wastewater systems over the next 10 years to ensure municipal infrastructure is in a state of good repair and able to withstand significant rainfall. Halton Region's Enhanced Basement Flooding Prevention Subsidy Program provides financial assistance and information to help you make improvements to your home that can reduce the risk of basement flooding. There are four subsidies available to help protect your home: 1. Downspout disconnection: 100 per cent subsidy, up to a maximum of $500 2. Weeping tile disconnection: 100 per cent subsidy, up to a maximum of $5,000subsidy, up to a maximum of $5,000subsidy 3. Backwater valve installation: 50 per cent subsidy, up to a maximum of $675 4. Sewer lateral (pipe) lining and repair: 50 per cent subsidy, up to a maximum of $2,000 To learn more about our subsidy program and other tips to help protect your home from flooding, visit halton.ca. Halton Region has expanded its Blue Box recycling program to include more items for recycling. Halton residents can place the following items in the Blue Box or in clear plastic bags for curbside collection: • plastic bags (such as grocery bags, shopping bags, newspaper or flyer bags, produce bags and outer milk bags); • plastic overwrap (such as plastic packaging over paper towels or cases of pop); and • metal pots, frying pans and metal baking sheets.
