I am housebroken, have my basic commands, medium energy, although when let out of my pod it looks like "high energy." My real problem is that I need a VERY EXPERIENCED owner because I do not trust new people easily and this can be viewed as un- predictable. I would be good as an "only" child, or sharing life with one other dog might be a plus (I do have a great playmate here at the Shel- ter who I enjoy romping with in free outdoor time). I am NOT suitable for a home with children; I need calm, gentle handling and people who can make my boundaries clear to me. I feel most secure in my kennel at the Shelter; frankly I am a bit of a couch potato and would pre- fer sitting in the sun and getting cuddles and massages, rather than walking on a leash. I come back for those close moments again and again. My favourite dog walker and I share many precious moments in close con- tact and it is bliss! I bear the title "Fifi is our longest resi- dent" which I do not particularly like and I so want a family to call my own. I realize my problem is that I find everything al- most too stimulating and I do not trust easily and I do not have a complete arsenal of manners/training to han- dle the variety of social situ- ations that are presented. The staff feels that this time at the Shelter has made them more confi- dent that Fifi will turn into a great dog as long as the right home can be found for her. If you are that fam- ily you will enjoy helping Fifi reach her potential and will have pride, as will she, in your joint achievements. Fifi: From stray to Shelter By JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer Spooky is an awesome cat! It's incon- ceivable that his owners moved from a rural property and left him outside. For- tunately he stayed close to the house until the new owners arrived. He is a typical nine-month-old cat into everything and wanting to help. He would like to sample what ever is on your plate and he's sure it would be his fa- vourite. Running water fascinates him: he sits on the tub to watch baths and showers (on occa- sion falls in), he rushes to the scene when he hears a toilet flush and he would very much like to help wash dishes. All of his jumps are not 10s, sometimes he knocks over what- ever is on the landing strip. Because he is so good natured and rather a klutz it's difficult to be upset when he misbehaves. Spooky loves attention from adults and children. He plays with other cats and en- joys interacting with friendly dogs. Some- times his exuberance is annoying to older cats but he learns and avoids them-- in- stead pouncing on a more willing play- mate. He enjoys rough and tumble play with other cats but is gentle with people. Spooky is exceptionally easy-to-handle and soaks up any attention he is given. He enjoys being carried around, likes to sprawl on a lap and has a reserved spot on the bed at night. Clipping his nails, vet visits and grooming are not a problem. Spooky is a social cat; he would be delighted if his adoptive fam- ily had children or friendly pets or both!
