"We can choose to do nothing and let this go, but then we would be condoning the improper and alleged illegal action perpetrated by Councillor Huffman." In speaking with the Champion af- ter themeeting, Huffmanexpressed his dismay in council's decision. They were thrilled to sing in the acoustically- brilliant cathedrals and churches - so rich in histo- ry - in Berlin, Wittenberg, Leipzig, Halle, Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Melk, and Salzburg, and gratified to receive several standing ovations along the way. Highlights included sing- ing in Martin Luther's Church in Wittenberg, in St. Thomas Church in Leipzig where J.S. Bach formed the St. Thomas Boys' Choir, and where he is now buried, and in Han- del's hometown church in Halle. Under the leadership of musical director Brian Turnbull and accompanist Jane Wamsley, Tempus Choral Society is a growing group of community choirs that include the main adult choir of over 100 choristers, Tempus Jazz (a jazz choir of 14 singers), and Tem- pus4Us (a free 60-voice chil- dren's choir of ages five to 14, founded with the sup- port of the Ontario Trilli- um Foundation). The group practises Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church (with tremendous thanks to the church for its support), and is now fo- cused on learning new rep- ertoire for their upcoming concerts. Tempus members invite you to join them at their an- nual Christmas concerts on Nov. 30 at 8 pm, and Dec. 1 at 3 pm, at Oakville's Clearview Christian Re- form Church, to kick-start your holiday season with a joyful sound.
