Dudley will be sadly missed by many extended family and friends. Dudley was a WWII veteran and as a member of the Royal Navy, saw action his first night at sea. He was commissioned as a Salvation Army Officer in 1954 and has dedicated his life to helping others in God's service. He spent 15 years in India and later, five in Sri Lanka. His final appointment was four year s in London, U .K . a s International Secretary for South Asia where he focused on the great needs of the region which always held a special place in his heart. His motto was "make the world a better p l a c e " . Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he honed his craft in the sheet metal industry and started his family there. At 33, John immigrated to Oakville with his wife Ann to provide better opportunities for his growing family by establishing himself at the Local 30 Sheet Metal Union. A former Grand Knight with Marion Council and District Deputy of District 51 of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a member of the 4th Degree Honour Guard, he gave back to the community by running a number of charities including United Way, Juvenile Diabetes campaign and The Special Olympics. John worked hard at everything he did and was a great provider for Ann and their seven children. He was dedicated to helping others and always helped a friend in need with a hammer in hand. JC, as he was often referred to, was a man of principle and always stood up for his beliefs, which earned him respect by those that had the pleasure to know him. John was the life of the party and the center of attention with his quick wit, sense of humour, and infectious personality. In his spare time he enjoyed playing golf, being with his friends and family, and singing and playing guitar for anybody that would listen! John was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, and friend to all. He is survived by his wife, Ann of 59 years and seven children John, Ann, Margaret, Michael, Mary Jane, Bridget, and Theresa, ten loving grand- children, and extended family. He had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives he touched with his kindness, generosity and love. The family will receive friends and family at a viewing on Thursday, October 4th from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville, Ontario.
