Dave inspired well over 500 young athletes as well as over 500 masters athletes as a swim coach starting out at McMaster University then at both the Oakville Aquatic Club (2000 - 2018) and Burlington Masters Swim Club (1996 - 2012). Dave was passionate about his swimmers. He instilled in them his goal-focused work ethic, drive and determination while guiding them to achieve their dreams and successes. He self lessly inspired others to be their best and enriched everyone he encountered with his authentic approach and endearing sense of humour. This passion was also evident in how he approached everything else in life. Dave loved the outdoors and enjoyed the natural beauty of his surroundings. Death Notices Death Notices MYERS, Ernest (Ernie) Louis James 1946 - October 1, 2018 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ernie at his home in Young's Point following several years of challenges living with lung cancer. He is survived by his spouse Debi Munisso, her children Jeremy (Kim) from Barrie, and Devon (f iancé Rebecca ) f rom St . John 's New Brunswick, and grandchildren Logan, Te a g u e , a n d B r e n n e n . H e i s mourned by his daughter Melissa Myers of Toronto, stepson Leon Cox of Vancouver, and their mother, Janet Myers of Toronto. Ernie is predeceased by his parents, Louis Joseph Foy Myers and Helen Corbett Myers (nee Malone) and his brother Michael Myers of Oakvi l le . His siblings, Tony (Erna), Karen Hodgins (Rick), David (Lisa Daniels), Gary (Carol), Anne-Marie McLean (David), Louis, and Arthur mourn his passing. Ernie leaves behind many nieces and nephews. The eldest of a family of nine children, Ernie grew up and attended St Mary's, St James' and St Joseph's e lementary schools , Thomas A. Blakelock High School and Sheridan College in Oakville. In 1975, Ernie followed his passion and moved to the Peterborough area where he employed his entrepreneurial skills as owner and operator of a wood stove business. He enjoyed a robust involvement in the industry for over 3 5 y e a r s , d e v e l o p i n g s t r o n g relationships with his colleagues in Canada, United States and abroad. Ernie volunteered with the Service Canadian Standards Association for 28 years, in addition to being a member of the WETT and HPBAC organizations. The family would like to thank all those who have generously provided care for Ernie during these past months. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Hendren Funeral Home, located at 65 Queen Street , Lakef ie ld , Ontario. Veronica wi l l be lov ingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Lloyd Tyrrell, her daughter Allison, her son Andrew, his wife Ann Marie and their children Andrew Jr. a n d B r a n d o n . Ve r o n i c a w a s a n extraordinary community leader who was beloved by her many friends and colleagues. Her relentless dedication to helping people was always her passion. Born in Guyana she relocated t o t h e U K a f t e r a c c e p t i n g a scholarship. Veronica graduated as a Registered Nurse specia l iz ing in Midwifery. Later, she and Lloyd immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 1984 the family relocated to Ontario where she became instrumental in pioneering Midwifery as a recognized profession. Veronica supported many local community and political organizations and had a way of bringing people together. She used her involvement in the community and politics as a way to bring people together to push for inclusivity, tolerance, social change and working towards the greater good. As a community leader she received many accolades and awards but bringing Black History to Oakville and receiving her Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal were her proudest moments. Her spirit energy and unwavering service to the causes she believed in was infinite. She was unselfishly devoted to her family and friends and a consummate leader to the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton which she built into what it now is today. A day did not pass without Veronica going the extra mile to do whatever she could to promote diversity and inclusion; to help make Halton Region the best place to live--for everyone. Veronica Tyrrell will be greatly missed.
