Much has changed in the town of Oakville since the school's humble begin- nings in a little wartime home, alongside a farmer's eld. However, what has remained steadfast for Rotherglen throughout years of growth and expansion, is a commitment to creating an inclusive culture, a dedica- tion to best practice and a growth mindset, and the core value of citizenship through engaging and empowering youth. Rotherglen's forward vision of education is exempli ed in the newly built 18,000 square-foot, naturally lit facility. It was de- signed to meet the need for collaborative spaces in today's educational framework. Our objective is to prepare students for a world that prizes creative thinking, commu- nication and collaboration. The architectural rm, Montgomery Si- sam, credited with many prestigious builds including other private schools in the GTA, was awarded the contract. The result is a truly impressive facility, which integrates design with purpose, and beautifully cap- tures the exquisite views of Sixteen Mile Creek that surrounds the premises. Solely focussing on enriching program- ming and maximizing individual student success, the expanded learning environ- ment boasts a courtyard Art Room, an acoustically designed, vaulted ceiling Mu- sic Room, a calming Mindfulness Room, a generous and brightly lit Learning Com- mons, a large STEM classroom, a state- of-the-art demonstration kitchen, and a second gymnasium and community space. While the new build sets the school apart, what has de ned, distinguished and fu- elled Rotherglen's growth is the student experience cultivated through a culture of kindness and a foundation of mutual re- spect within the walls of the school. In acknowledgement of the tremendous support that has come from the Oakville community through a shared vision of education, the Lanigan family created The REACH (Rotherglen Educating for Advocacy and Creating Hope) Foundation. This year, REACH celebrates its 10th year of local outreach. The creation of REACH speaks to a sense of gratitude for all those who have supported the school community: the fami- lies, students, and the incredible faculty and administrative team. Understanding that it truly takes a vil- lage to raise a child, Rotherglen honours its source of inspiration in community and the power of a shared dream. Rotherglen School celebrates 30 years in Oakville Honouring our past, embracing our future
