Description
The following family history was contributed by George Pratt, Donor:

The Thomas Medland family emigrated from Cornwall [England] in 1927. They came straightaway from Halifax to the Oakville area, we are not sure if right in the town or to a farm nearby, nor what was the attraction to Oakville. They almost all remained living in or around Oakville, patriarch Thomas buying a property on Queen Mary Drive where he lived out his days with wife Agnes.

Tom and Bill are not present because they were in the British Military serving in India at the time of emigration; but they did come to Oakville.

In later days i.e., WW2, sons Bill, Owen and Tom all served with distinction in the 48th Highlanders based in Oakville.
