Beloved husband of Sue, his wife of 48 years, who was beside him in his final moments. Cherished father of Nicholas, Michael and Stephen and dear father-in-law of Tina, Catherine and Ashley. Proud grandfather of Mason, Nathaniel, Maiella, Alexander and Nicholas. Loving brother of Gitta (Ken Mullally) and the late John Dinka ( P a t ) . H e w i l l a l s o b e f o n d l y remembered by his many nieces and nephews and by his extended family and friends. Carl lived his earliest years on the family farm in Oakville. He attended Oakville Trafalgar High School, and went on to study at Western University. After a busy period spent in Toronto and Ottawa, he returned to his home town in 1979 to establish an independent accounting practice. Diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2010, Carl continued to live with great passion, refusing to allow the disease and its ongoing treatment to diminish his zest for life. He was overjoyed to welcome five grandchildren in the ensuing years. We will remember Carl for his abiding love of all things in nature, and for his passion for hiking, canoeing, cycling and camping. At the cottage on Echo Bay, he always had a project on the go. He was warm, a bit zany and never shy to share a groan-inducing pun or a feisty opinion. (Rampant consumerism and the performance of the Leafs were both topics of great consternation). He loved a wide range of music, was a budding painter and a deep and thoughtful reader of the classics. Carl wrote and independently published several books that he happily shared with anyone who expressed an interest. Our heartfelt thanks to Dwight/Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, the dedicated team at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Cancer Clinic and Carl's wonderful friends and neighbours in Oakville, Muskoka and beyond. Cremation has taken place. A gathering to remember Carl will be held at the Joshua Creek Heritage Art Centre, 1086 Burnhamthorpe Rd. E., in Oakville, Saturday, November 10th from 2-4 p.m. For those who may wish to make a donation, we would suggest Myeloma Canada or the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
