The annual event, orga- nized by the home health- care business Access Abili- ties (formerly MediChair), began in 2002 with just eight veterans invited to a simple lunch. The luncheon has since grown to the point where this year's event attracted nearly 700 people. Those who came were greeted by songs from a Barbershop chorus and Big Band music as well as cards from school- children on each table, thanking those who have served. Ontario Premier Doug Ford was among the speak- ers who addressed the gath- ering. "I am so humbled being here with so many heroes in the room," he said. "In World War one, World War Two, Korea and Af-War Two, Korea and Af-W ghanistan - whenever the world's most evil ideologies rose up and needed to be confronted Canadians were there.
