His guardian angel, Clarence, is sent to earth to show his wish come true. It is the West End Studio Theatre's (WEST) first production with the Oak- ville Centre, which pro- duces a Christmas play at the venue each year. Yilmaz Mustafa, artis- tic head of WEST and the director of It's a Wonderful Life says that even though the story is decades old, it still resonates with people. "This story is relevant even today," said Mustafa. "People will closely relate to the uncertainties and triumphs of George Bailey, his family and, of course, Clarence the angel." Four performances will occur over the weekend of Nov. 23 to 25 at the AEG Liebherr Auditorium of the Oakville Centre. Tick- ets, which are $30, can be purchased by phone, in person (130 Navy St.) or on- line from either WEST's or Oakville Centre's website (www.oakvillecentre.ca). The play will be on at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25. Most of the cast are for- mer or current students of WEST. Mustafa cast twins Ethan and Barett Carley to play the roles of young George and Harry Bailey respectively. The 14-year- old Carley twins took the studio's stage acting clas- ses offered at WEST when they were five. Kara Barbosa, playing the role of Zuzu Bailey, is also a former student of that program. She im- pressed Mustafa with her talents when she attended the studio's stage acting classes. All these child ac- tors have attended multi- ple summer camps at WEST as well. "I sensed strong poten- tial while I was coaching them," said Mustafa. "They are delivering such strong performances that audiences will cherish this experience and would want to turn this into an holiday tradition."
