Love Sue, David, Mum and Dad. xx oo CORBETT, "Cookie" Alison Blair Passed away peacefu l ly with her daughter by her side on Saturday, November 17, 2018 a few days short of her 99th birthday, a long life, well- l i ved. Predeceased by her lov ing husband Bud (2000). Devoted mother and best friend of her daughter JoAnn Grime, gardening buddy and golf partner for her son-in-law Bob and beloved Nana of Geoffrey (Victoria, BC). The daughter of Halton County OPP officer, George Cookman, Ailie as she was known to family, grew up with her younger brother Jack in Milton. She enlisted in the first women's division of the RCAF in WWII. It was at Trenton she was given her nickname Cookie and met her future husband Bud Corbett. She supported Bud as he took on the challenge of developing minor league sports in the town of Oakville while also starting Corbett Sports. She was at his side when he was inducted into the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame in early 2000. After selling the store, the family moved to Shelburne where they expanded and ran the Shelburne Golf Course. In the winters, Bud managed a pay-as-you play curling club in Oakville with Cookie at his side once again. Cookie was a natural athlete who had the most effortless golf swing. She was a member of both the Oakville and Trafalgar Golf Clubs. A gracious lady, beautiful inside and out, Cookie was known for her twinkling eyes, a lovely smile and ready laugh. Having lived for many years in the granny flat spoiling the family with her love and cooking, it was tough when Mum had to leave home yet she remained a gentle soul, true to herself despite the challenges of dementia. In respect of Cookie's wishes, cremation will be followed by interment alongside Bud at the Stone Church Cemetery, Beaverton. Please take a moment to revisit a memory of Cookie. If desired, donations to Dufferin Oaks, for the Quality of Care Team, would be appreciated. Online condolences and donations may be placed at jackandthompsonfuneralhome.com "Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, very missed and oh so dear." GRAHAM, Genevieve (nee Granger) Passed away peacefully after a short illness at the Palermo Village Retirement Home in Oakvi l le . She is survived by daughters Lynda Ellison (Brian) and Alison Domoney (Bruce) and by sister Anna Lemon (Lyle), sister-in-law Eleanor Cox, brother-in-law Ray Kennedy and son- in- law Ron Murray (Anna). Beloved grandmother to Justin (Alisha), Lindsay (Kevin), Katie, Rebecca and Megan. Great-grandmother to Leah, Owen, Austin and Abigail. Genev ieve grew up on a farm in Copenhagen, Ontario and went to High School in Aylmer. She trained as a nurse in St. Thomas and worked at the St. Catherines General and Oakville Trafalgar hospitals. She also nursed at The Kensington retirement home in downtown Oakville. She was a long time member of The Church of the Epiphany. Genevieve was a lady of many talents. She could cook, sew, paint, garden, decorate, crochet and quilt. She loved card and board games and could be a fierce competitor. She and husband George were unmatched on the dance floor. In her later years she was felled by several strokes yet maintained her spirit while she made a modest recovery. She dressed impeccably right to the very end. We will all miss Genevieve terribly - but we have so many great memories to cherish. She lived a long and rewarding life and she will be remembered as a good friend, a fine mother and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. The family would like to thank Dr. Glen Surbey and Genevieve's caregivers at Palermo Village and Paramed. Visitations will be at the Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home in Oakville from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Thursday, November 22. The funeral will be at the Church of the Epiphany, 141 Bronte Road Oakville at 11am on Friday, November 23. HAMILTON, Heather Ann (nee Martyn) December 13, 1939 - October 30, 2018 It is with sadness and relief that we announce the passing of Heather after courageously dealing with Alzheimer's Disease for more than 5 years. Wife of 57 years to Bob. Mom to Jill Beemer (John), Mike Hamilton (Angie), and Julie McDougall (John). Very proud "Nana Ham" to Mackenzie, Maddie, Jennifer, Malcolm, Holly, Kate, Annie, and Bobby. Heather is predeceased by her father Eric Martyn and her mother Edna Martyn (nee Locke) . She i s survived by her favorite Aunt Edith (96) of Victoria, BC who has missed their regular correspondence over the past several years. Heather was born on December 13, 1939 in Toronto where she spent her early childhood. After her father was transferred by Ontario Hydro, the family moved to Port Arthur, and Heather always referred happily to her high school years where she had close friends, did well academically, and was an accomplished figure skater. After graduating from Port Arthur Collegiate Institute, she traveled to Toronto where she trained to be a Registered Nurse at the Toronto Western Hospital. Her strong sense of identity as a nurse continued throughout her lifetime, including her most recent time in memory and long-term care. While Heather was in training in Toronto, the many Martyns stepped in to keep a close eye on the young woman so far from home. Heather was always proud to be a Martyn. After marrying, Heather and Bob settled in Oakville where they enjoyed a busy and vibrant social and family life, raising children, sailing, and skiing at Alpine Ski Club in Collingwood. In 1995, Bob and Heather retired to Thornbury (and later Collingwood) where they again immersed themselves in the local communities and enjoyed an active lifestyle and wonderful friends. Heather's great joy was her grandchildren, and she is loved and missed by them. Her dogs were one of her other loves and most recently Maggie and then Rufus gave her tremendous happiness. Heather often mentioned how much she missed out by not having a sibling. It is with tremendous gratitude that Jill, Mike and Julie acknowledge the great gift Mom gave us in that respect. We derive tremendous love, friendship, and support from each other well into our adult lives and we have Mom to thank for that. We would like to thank the extremely kind staff at The Memory Wing of Georgian Traditions in Collingwood, and the Brule Long Term Care Wing at Schlegel Village of Humber Heights in Etobicoke. We are in awe of the kindness and respect that the caregivers displayed to Mom every day, year after year. Heather is being cremated. We invite family, friends and neighbors to a reception in Heather's honour on Saturday, December 8th, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Alpine Ski Club in Collingwood. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Schlegel Research Institute for Aging at the University of Waterloo (https://the- ria.ca/), or Sleeping Children around the World (www.scaw.org) would be greatly appreciated. Together, Monica and Ivan travelled the world and in their strong support of The Gideon's, Monica shared her musical talents for many years at Calvary Baptist and other Evangelical associations. Her greatest strength was her faith in Jesus Christ. She demonstrated her Christian ideals by her help to others and by sharing her faith in the Lord with those she met. It is because of her having accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior that when Monica closed her eyes for the last time here on earth, then opened them in the presence of her Lord, her entry into Heaven being announced with the words, ""Well done my good and faithful servant" LEWIS, Edward Llewellyn "Ted" With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Edward Llewellyn 'Ted' Lewis at his home in Oakville Ontario on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the tender age of 76.
