They can be a snack or dessert, vege- tarian or filled with chicken, beef, ham or chorizo sausage. "We believe we have a crepe for everyone," said owners of The Crepe Kitchen, Eduardo and Ana Siles. Located at 88 Dunn St. in close proximity to the lake and historic homes, The Crepe Kitchen is cele- brating its ninth year, offering the only crêperie in the charming downtown core. The Siles' immigrated to Cana- da from Peru with their children, Francisco and Maria Jose, in 2003. They eventually fulfilled their dream of opening a restau- rant and working together. The couple designed and decorated the "small and inviting" venue with tables and chairs they dis- covered in antique stores from Niagara to Barrie. "We believe that there was a powerful hand guiding us all the way from the concept to the open- ing and is still guiding us. We en- countered many obstacles but fi- nally we see the results, nine years in business in a tough and competitive market as the food in- dustry." Along with a delectable list of assorted crepes, The Crepe Kitch- en offers French onion soup, sandwiches croque monsieur and croque madame, and the house salad that is served with their sig- nature sweet onion vinaigrette. "We developed this vinaigrette to be used at the restaurant and became so popular, that now we bottle it and sell it at the restau- rant and a couple of local stores." Over the years they have "humbly" received many awards, including Oakville Beaver Read- er's Choice Awards for Best Busi- ness, Best Breakfast and Best At- tentive Owners. In 2016, they were chosen as Restaurateur of the Year by both the Oakville Cham-Year by both the Oakville Cham-Y ber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Oakville West. "All these awards mean a lot to us and make us work harder ev- ery day. Once you get to a recogni- tion, you have to keep going to beat the mark." The awards are no doubt are a reflection of the couple's special relationship with their guests, with Eduardo out front warmly welcoming guests, and Ana and Maria Jose in the open kitchen preparing orders with "attention to detail and quality ingredients, care, passion and lots of love." "We as owners, are there all the time, we are the faces the guests want to see. If one of us is sick or coming later, we get the question, 'Where is Eduardo? Where is Ana?'" "They share with us happy and sad moments and they know we are willing to listen or give them a hand. Guests feel at home." Passion for cooking runs in the family; Ana's grandmothers were "excellent home cooks" and Maria Jose graduated with ho- nours from George Brown Col- lege's culinary management pro- gram. "Being unique makes us a des- tination for people living in or vis- iting Oakville." BUSINESS Eduardo and Ana Siles hold their holiday special crepe at The Crepe Kitchen, 88 Dunn St, south of Lakeshore in downtown Oakville. It features tender turkey breast, fresh asparagus, cranberry sauce and creamy Swiss cheese for $19.99.
