Shortly after 8:40 a.m., Halton police were called to St. Marguerite D'Youville El- ementary School at 1359 Bayshire Dr., after a man was allegedly observed forcibly at- tempting to take a young boy towards a ve- hicle. A number of bystanders, including staff and parents intervened and separated the man from the boy. The boy was not harmed during the in- cident. Halton police arrived on the scene and made an arrest. An investigation by police has revealed the accused is the father of the boy in- volved in the incident. The investigation also revealed that mo- ments before allegedly grabbing his son, the man allegedly grabbed another stu- dent at the school by mistake. This alleged interaction was brief and the student was not injured. Police said the accused's alleged at- tempt to take his child was in contraven- tion of a Family Court Order, which re- stricted his access to the child. A 47-year-old Mississauga man, who police are not identifying to protect the identity of the child, has been charged with two counts of abduction in contra- vention of a custody order, two counts of assault and one count of disobeying a court order.
