Fire crews were called to a residence on Ennisclare Drive West at around 10:45 p.m., after the homeowner smelled smoke. Oakville Fire Chief Brian Durdin said firefighters re- sponded and traced the odour to a small fire, which had started in the attic. The blaze was quickly extinguished. All residents were able to get out of the home safely. The annual Fun Run and 1 km Elf Walk attracted a few hundred runners who donned festive outfits as they raised funds for the local Salvation Army. Graham Paine/Metroland SANTA RUN IN OAKVILLE WITH COMMUNITY Oakville council will be celebrating the passing of another year at its annual New Year's Levee, on Sun- day Jan. 6. The event will take place within the South Atrium of Oakville's Town Hall and will be open from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. The New Year's Levee is an annual public event to ring in the new year as a community. It features brief re- marks from Oakville May- or Rob Burton, as well as musical performances by the Oakville Children's Choir and the Wind Quin- tet from the Oakville Chamber Orchestra.
