Friendly people, Great Music Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit! (will return Jan 2nd) White Oaks Secondary School will once again be represented on the inter- national debate stage. Angie Lei and Heather Li, standouts with the pe- rennial powerhouse pro- gram, recently took top honours at the British Parliamentary Debate Championships in Toron- to. They upstaged rough- ly 30 junior teams from coast to coast, over the three-day, eight-round national competition, to book passage to the pres- tigious tournament at Cambridge University in England in late April. The junior duo's victo- ry follows Alice Chen's championship win with Canada East at Romania's ARGO Open Internation- al Schools Debating Tour- nament in September. Also showing strong in Toronto were White Oaks senior-level debaters Chen and Kathryn Po- zios, who placed ninth - just missing the top-eight cut to qualify for a trip to either Cambridge or Ox- ford.ford.f The school delivered a formidable one-twoformidable one-twof punch at the recent Hal- ton Regional Final at Ap- pleby College. Hahn Li and Meghan Conn won the event, with Chen and Amr Saleh placing second. Both teams advanced to the provincial champion- ships in Ottawa this com- ing March.
