The following people were presented with Paul Harris Fellow Awards: • Thomas R. Alton, re- tired president of the Bank of Montreal Mortgage Cor- poration who, since 1998, has devoted considerable time and effort to the very serious business of volunteering • Kerry Colborne, volun- teer with the Oakville Awards for Business Excel- lence • Arish Khoorshed, Hal- ton multicultural council, for community-based settle-for community-based settle-f ment services for immigrant and refugee communities • Todd and Trent Cour- age, Polar Bear Dip, is Cana- da's largest fundraising ef- fort for World Visionfort for World Visionf • Diana and Brian Isher- wood hosted Vietnamese refugees for a full year and are members of a committee for the settlement of a Syri-for the settlement of a Syri-f an refugee family adopted by the St. Andrew's church • Blake Stoneburgh, post- humously, and Steve Cha- bot, Stoney's Bread Compa- ny, were responsible for lift- ing up people and giving back quietly and discreetly to members of the Kerr Vil- lage community. The event attracted 120 people to share fellowship and honour the nine mem- bers of the community. Jessica Miki, president of the Rotaract Club of Oak- ville, and John Gilvesy, Ro- tary District Governor, wel- comed the guests. At some point be- tween Jan. 27 and Jan. 28 someone forced open the front door of the business,front door of the business,f which is located on North Service Road West, near Dorval Drive. Police said the intruder stole 50 pairs of de- signer sunglasses, along with $300 in cash. No suspect description is available. POLICE INVESTIGATING AFTER $30K WORTH OF SUNGLASSES STOLEN FROM OAKVILLE BUSINESS DAVID LEA dlea@metroland.com Halton police are inves- tigating following the theft of more than $6,000 worth of designer sun- glasses from an Oakville business on Jan. 29. At 1:10 p.m., a man and woman entered the store, which is located on Maple Grove Drive near Corn- wall Road. While one sus- pect distracted the em- ployee, the other grabbed the sunglasses and left the store, police said. The man is described as white, approximately five-foot-eight with afive-foot-eight with af heavy build, brown eyes and clean shaven. He wore a black baseball cap, black jacket and black jeans. The woman is de- scribed as white, approxi- mately five-foot-five, with a slim build and short dark hair. She wore a black hat and a black bag- gy trench coat.
