A n i n s p i r i n g matriarch, Anne was beloved for her w i s d o m a n d k i n d n e s s t o o t h e r s , Scandinavian common sense, love of dancing and sense of fun. She believed in people. Predeceased by her husband J¯rgen (John) Li lholt (2004), Anne leaves behind daughters Vibeke Ball (Robert) of King City, Susan Lilholt (Glen Bodie) of Vancouver, Debbie Woodworth (David) of Freelton, grandchildren Austin and Sunni Anne, brother-in-law Poul Lilholt (Inger) of Denmark, sister-in-law Gerda Mikkelsen of Denmark, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in Denmark, Canada and the USA. Anne was also cherished by her dear friend Anna Carling and the supportive community at Hesperus Village. Until her dying breath and throughout her life, Anne stayed alert to the world around her. She had political opinions, regularly reading the news in the papers and on her iPad, high-functioning until the end. Born in Aarhus, Denmark and trained as a Fashion Designer, she was known for her dressmaking talents and ability to envision an evening gown creation, turning it into reality in a weekend. She immigrated to Canada in April, 1950 and remarried within three years. She owned a successful designer dress shop in downtown Oakville, Ontario entitled 'Elegance' and her exceptional customer service was rewarded with many loyal clients. Later in life, her drive led her to become a realtor for Remax, winning the rookie award for highest sales in her first year. Still later, she teamed up with her developer husband to design townhomes in Oakville, then build and run a hotel in northern Ontario where her popular desserts drew many to the restaurant. In Denmark, she helped transform a publishing house into several apartments, along with her husband and brother-in-law and assisted in running a golf import-export retirement business there. Beauty, intelligence and confidence were the hallmarks of her charmed life but it was her profound kindness to others that endeared her to her family and many 'adopted' daughters, sons and friends. Her strength and radiant smile will be terribly missed by us all. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019. Vibekeball@mac.com for details.
