Residents associations hold blood challenge By SHELLY SANDERS GREER Special 10 the North News North Oakville residents associaâ€" tions want to find out which one can out pump the others through a blood donor challense. Yesterday, Dec. 30th, GARA held its endâ€"ofâ€"year clinic at the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre, called ‘The Gift of Giving‘ in recognition of the holiday season. The second clinic will be held Jan. 21st at the River Oaks Recreation Centre, 1 to 8 p.m.This clinic will combine IRRA and ROAR. All residents will be asked where they live and at the end of the clinic, the results will be tallied up to determine which association has the highest number of blood donors. These results will then be compared with the results of the GARA clinic to determine an overall winner. Glen Abbey Residents Association (GARA), River Oaks Association of Residents (ROAR), and Iroquois Ridge Residents Association (IRRA) will be competâ€" ing for the highest number of units of blood donated in two separate blood donor clinies. "We haven‘t determined what the winning association will receive," says Kurt Franklin, president of IRRA, "but think it will be a trophy that could be used every year." To make giving and receiving blood as safe as possible, the Canadian Red Cross has established specific criteria for blood donation. Donors are required to: 1. be between 17 and 70 years of age (firstâ€"time donors must be under 60); 6. wait a minimum of 70 days between whole blood donations; 7. present suitable identification. ‘"For the congregation it was iniâ€" tially very â€" difficult," said Mittelstaedt, noting many of the Germanâ€"background members "were part of the original building team." The district committee set up by the Pentecostal Assemblics of Canada to steer Bethel‘s "new search for effective integration into the community," had listened to their concerns, and were able to turn 2. be in general good health and feeling well; & 3. weigh 100 pounds or more; 4. be at east 5 feet all; 5. be well rested and have had something to eat before donatine: "The cthnic heritage of this church building will be mainâ€" tained," comments Mittelstaedt. The sale of the building, the move to River Oaks, the new name and the removal of all German lanâ€" guage programs, was initially met with apprehension by a congregaâ€" tion of German and nonâ€"German back grounds. Name change to reflect future direction (Continued from page 4) of its building is Jan. 3rd, whereâ€" upon the Polish Catholic Mission of Oakville, a growing church thanks to increased immigration from Poland, moves in. § § CA ‘{ f e ‘â€" mmmtt Nn esc se Rilim OUhcrestomenmmmementenetemenmeeenemunnmememenseesensmemmeanteensetenssenssent e prrermnnemnrennteronrennerscrerenzeveventem t & \\ § \i\\ o g § \\\ \\\\\ \} \‘\:\\\\‘\x‘\:‘w\‘w \&v),’k’__d’,â€â€â€™/,’/)////;,/;/,/;/4;////1/////////4/////1/"///////////// WWVWWWWWINRR 5 l *Price of Eagle Vision ESi (22C) based on MSRP Price of Jeep YJ °S‘ (23R), Eagle Summit includes G.S.T.
