Happy Women's Day International Women's Day 2019 #InnovateForChange International Women's Day Peter Watson Investments Jenni fe r Watson , wea l th manager As Jennifer Watson, wealth manager at Peter Watson Investments, marks the occasion of International Women's Day she notes how important it is to not only celebrate women's achievements, but also "recognize the work that still needs to be done regarding gender equality." Having earned a successful career in the nancial services industry where Watson says women are in the minority, she says she measures her personal success as "gaining the trust of my clients and colleagues and providing the best quality service and help for clients we manage" and knowing that she and her team are recognized for their success by both clients and members of the nancial services industry. In uenced by her parents who are both successful nancial advisors and entrepreneurs, Watson says that goal mapping has been her key to success. "I map out my goals for the future and monitor them regularly to make sure I am on track to success." She's also an avid networker who works and shares with others to the bene t of all involved. Having been mentored by her father, Watson now mentors young professionals, including the young adult children of colleagues and new recruits at Ivey, Western University Business School. The experiences have been positive ones for Watson, who says she enjoys "helping people and they in turn have opened up new opportunities for me." Watson encourages young women to do what they love to nd true success, to never stop learning or building their network and above all, enjoy the journey. 220 Randall St., Oakville 905.842.2100 Ritorno Jul ia Hanna , owner This International Women's Day, Julia Hanna, owner of Ritorno restaurant, is using the day to reflect on the status and wellness of women in our community, province, country, and the world. She also takes time to reflect on two women who have influenced her life great- ly: her mother and her grandmother. "Their passion for food and its power to bring friends and family together were instilled in me from the moment my head could see over the kitchen counter," Julia says. A local restauranteur and not-for-profit founder of Healthy Fam., Julia has owned and op- erated successful restaurants in a highly competitive, and male dominated, industry for the last 35 years. She says as important as strategy and planning are, it's your resiliency and ability to adapt to change that will determine your ability to thrive and survive. "Throughout your life and career, you will meet people who inspire you and people who want to help. All you have to do is be open to their presence in your life," Julia says. "No matter what age you are, you can have a significant impact on others by caring and listening." This International Women's Day, Julia says always be ready for a roller coaster ride. "Enjoy the exhilaration and fight through the fear. Every day is an opportunity for a do-over. Never feel like this is it, for life will always offer new opportunities," she says. "Never, never stop learning, you will never know it all, embrace that. Remember you need the support of friends, family and col- leagues, and they need you just as much." 261 Oak Walk Drive, Oakville 905-257-5881
