The humane society respond- ed around 4:30 p.m. to Rebecca Street - just west of Kerr Street, in front of the Trafalgar Recre- ation Centre - after receiving re- ports from residents concerns about a swan wandering in and out of traffic, and possibly struck by one of the passing ve- hicles. Two officers teamed up to use a long-poled net and a towel to capture the scared waterfowl, that at times sat on the busy roadway seemingly unfazed by the passing vehicles. The swan was transported back to the society's Cornwall Road facility to be medically as- sessed for possible injuries. A passerby thought it might be the wayward mate of a pair of swans he had seen nesting along Sixteen Mile Creek, with one now missing.
