To get started with your springtime transition, begin with house maintenance and upkeep, especially when it comes to your HVAC system. Throughout the winter months, natural wear can affect your heat- ing and cooling system, so it's best to be prepared by doing some annual mainte- nance. "Transitioning from winter to spring comes with important responsibilities to keep your heating and cooling system in optimum working order," says Stephen Schroeter, co-Chief Executive of Napoleon Heating & Cooling. "It can be tempting to ip a switch on your thermostat and think you're ready for spring, but there should be more steps taken to ensure an ef cient transition." Check out these tips from our experts at Napoleon when getting your HVAC system ready for the spring season. Don't switch on the air right away It can be tempting to turn on the A/C at the rst sign of warmer weather, but you shouldn't be too quick to make this jump. Open your windows when the weather starts to warm up, then fully switch to A/C when its more likely that the warmth is here to stay. A/C maintenance Your air conditioning system is about to get a workout this summer, so it's best to prepare your unit(s) prior to turning them on. Be sure to change the lter on your system, ensure the condenser unit is free of debris and maintain structural upkeep from seasonal wear and tear. Furnace maintenance Though you won't be turning on your fur- nace for the next several months, it's best to maintain it prior to spring. To do this, turn your thermostat to the lowest temperature before completely turning it off and clean and empty the condensation line of your furnace; it will be ready to go in the fall. Insulate your home To ensure your home is ready for spring and even the fall season, proper mainte- nance of insulation is important. This in- cludes any necessary window and door seal replacements; ensure they're airtight and waterproofed and install any neces- sary insulation for your walls, oors and ceilings. Use a programmable thermostat Programmable thermostats allow you to set a few different temperatures at differ- ent times of the day or week to ensure that your house remains comfortable. These will help you save money when no one is home or when they're asleep. To learn more about Napoleon and how to transition your HVAC system, please visit https://napoleonheatingandcooling.com.
