Together, our volunteers are a force for life in the face of cancer. More than 100,000 Canadians come together every year as CCS volunteers, showing what can be achieved when we work as a col- lective of people united by the same goals. From driving people with can- cer to and from their cancer-re- lated appointments, to sharing their experiences in our peer support programs, or creating a home away from home at our lodges or camps, our volunteers improve the cancer experience for the 1 in 2 Canadians diagnosed with cancer. We are so grateful for our vol- unteers' continued commitment and dedication. Thanks to them, we fund groundbreaking re- search, provide trusted informa- tion, offer programs and services to help people with cancer and their families cope, and advocate to governments for important so- cial change. This week we recognize our volunteers, but all year round our volunteers help people with cancer see life beyond their diag- nosis. Their support is bigger than cancer. I would like to remind people to secure their recycling so that it doesn't blow away and get caught in the bushes. They are very thorny, and it hurts trying to retrieve the gar- bage. This bag of garbage was col- lected from Laurelwood Park.
