BEAVER TRAILS IN MEXICO Craig Hachey and Wendy Holmberg were bubbling about the amazing time they had on a vacation to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico earlier this year. If you have a vacation photo with your copy of the Oakville Beaver in the shot, there's a chance it might appear here. Send photos to news editor Kevin Nagel at knagel@metroland.com. Wendy Holmberg photo The Lighthouse for Grieving Children, a local Oakville charity, is hosting its third annual Run 4 Lighthouse on June 1. Organizers are antici- pating more than 1,000 run- ners, walkers and school- team members taking part. This fundraiser is a vi- brant dash of orange through the trails of Lions Valley Park in Oakville as the chip-timed runners aim for personal bests and the registered school teams compete for the School Challenge Trophy. For competitive run- ners it is an early opportu- nity to set a base five-kilo- metre time. Other partici- pants take a more leisurely jog along the scenic route, while others walk. Youn- ger entrants can take part in the 100-metre "Tots Trot." For budding super- heroes, there is an opportu- nity to put on a cape and compete in the one-kilo- metre Expedia Oakville South Superhero Chal- lenge. This community event boasts music, activities, food and fun, with all raised funds directed to the Lighthouse. This year, the Light- house for Grieving Chil- dren celebrates 20 years. Adjusting to life after the death of a parent or sibling is hard to understand, im- possible to imagine. Light- house is a safe space where children and teens are in- vited to share their feelings and have them validated and normalized by others who have shared a similar loss. Lighthouse's largest fundraiser helps provide grief support to families free of charge so that chil- dren can attend sessions for as long as they need, surrounded by those who understand. To register for this event, visit www.run4lh.com or for any questions, email in- fo@run4lh.com. RUN 4 LIGHTHOUSE RUNS SET FOR JUNE 1 A Brampton fire station S&P crew ran in last year's Run 4 Lighthouse event in memory of one of their colleagues. This year's event is scheduled for June 1.
