The Town of Oakville is hosting an open house to present information on the Lower Morrison and Wedgewood Creeks Flood Mitigation Opportunities Study to assess flood risks, establish alternatives to mitigate them and determine preferred solutions. This will be the first Open House for the Flood Mitigation Opportunities Study. The town will be presenting background information on flood-prone sites, updates from investigations and preliminary ideas and alternatives for flood mitigation. The Open House is a drop-in format where staff and the town's consulting team will be available to discuss the studies and answer questions. Members of the community are invited to share their own ideas on these studies at the Open House. At around 8:20 p.m., Halton police pulled over a vehicle in the area of Cross Avenue and TrafalgarAvenue and TrafalgarA Road after observing what they described as "activity conducive to drug traffick- ing." The two occupants of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man from Mississauga and a 26-year-old woman from Brampton, were bothfrom Brampton, were bothf placed under arrest. Police say a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl and can- nabis. The following day, May 14, Halton police executed a search warrant at the 27- year-old's home in Missis- sauga. Police say they seized additional crack cocaine and oxycodone. In total, Halton police seized approximately: • 11 grams of fentanyl • Eight grams of cocaine • 2.8 ounces of crack co- caine • four tablets of oxyco- done • 42 grams of cannabis Police said the estimat- ed street value of the seized drugs is $6,000. Courtney Jeshuron, 27, of Mississauga is charged with six counts of posses- sion for the purpose of trafficking, one count of trafficking a controlled substance, and one count of possession of a con- trolled substance. Rennay Harris, 26, of Brampton has been charged with three counts of possession for the pur- pose of trafficking and one count of trafficking a con- trolled substance. Both were held in cus- tody pending bail hear- ings. This is the second time someone has been arrest- ed for drug-related activi- ty in involving fentanyl in Oakville in two weeks. On May 7, a 39-year-old Oakville man was arrest- ed and charged with pos- sessing two grams of pur- ple fentanyl for the pur- pose of trafficking. Halton police Det. Sgt. Paul Foley cautioned against reading too much into these incidents. "I don't know if the fact that there have been two busts with fentanyl sug- gests that it is around more," he said.
