On May 22, 2019, Regional Council approved more than $2.6 million in funding through the Halton Region Community Investment Fund (HRCIF). The funds, which are provided through one-year or multi-year grants, support 55 community programs that: Simply fresh. Simply fun. Simply Local Halton. Providing reliable, high-quality drinking water will always be a top priority for Halton Region. We treat, deliver and monitor this essential resource 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure residents and businesses can enjoy it anytime. Treatment: Our 12 water treatment plants located across the region provide residents in Burlington, Halton Hills, Oakville and Milton with enough water to fill 72 Olympic-sized swimming pools every day! Delivery: We are continuously upgrading and expanding our water systems to keep infrastructure in a state of good repair and ensure residents continue to enjoy drinking water whenever they need it. Monitoring and testing: We regularly sample and test public infrastructure. Testing results consistently show that we continue to meet the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standards for safe drinking water. Halton is home to a diverse agricultural community, with local farms and stables, pick-your-own produce locations and garden centres right in our own backyard. This provides residents with excellent opportunities to buy local--a choice that benefits the environment, supports the local economy and simply tastes great.
